My life long pal

Created by Mick one year ago
I met Dave on Oct 12th 1959 in the Student Union Bar (where else) on my first day at Uni. We went together to the football trials in the afternoon. This was the start of a life-long friendship. Later that term after playing in Manchester on a cold, foggy afternoon (we lost) , we caught a train to Warrington. At Chez Hewitt there was a roaring fire, a full table and a warm welcome. That experience made me realise that accompanying a pal back to their roots is the best way to truly understand “how they tick”. Dave also had similar experiences when he visited North Norfolk. Despite the fact that we lived on opposite sides of the country hardly a year has gone by without us meeting up. In the early days when we were hard up and the kids small it involved get -togethers in Barton and Worksop and later Harwich and Bude. In the seventies we progressed to camping. As a foursome , Dave, Janet, Jill and I have travelled (mainly independently) on four continents, twenty countries and half a dozen islands. What a pal he has been. Mick
